Read the informed consent document, which explains that these tasks are harmless questionnaires whose data are collected confidentially and whose results will be reported anonymously. The first part only takes a few minutes, but each of the next two parts will require concentration and will take about 10 minutes each.
You must use a desk-top or lap-top computer--not a smart phone. You need the full time in a quiet location, free of interuption or distraction. As stated in the consent form, we do not give credit when someone simply clicks the same response or random buttons or otherwise "cheats" the assignment, so please choose another option for the assignment if you do not plan to read the instructions carefully and take this task seriously.
You can earn 1/2 hour credit, if you complete all the tasks properly according to the instructions.
Your responses will be checked by HUMAN researchers, and credit assigned within 48 hours AFTER the DEADLINE for participation in this session. That is, if you sign up for a session ENDING at 11:59 pm on FRIDAY, your data will be checked on the weekend and you can expect credit by 11:59 pm SUNDAY, even if you did the task several days earlier.
There are THREE PARTS to this study; you will complete all parts in order. Click the Link for No. 1 to Begin.
1. Part 1: Part 1: Rating Utility of Wins and Losses (approximately 4 minutes)
2. Part 2: Judging Differences in Utility for Gains and Losses: Part A (approximately 14 minutes)
3. Part 3: Judging Differences in Utility for Gains and Losses: Part B (approximately 11 minutes)
Optional: After you have completed these tasks, if you wish to learn more about this type of research, you will receive a link to read about Studies in Judgment and Decision Making
